Growth Diversified Strategy (GDS): August 2026 Investor Update

This post was originally published on jpfs.com

Portfolio Manager’s Note

The GDS Portfolio navigated a challenging global environment in August, marked by political uncertainty, elevated volatility, and ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Against this backdrop, the Portfolio delivered a positive return of +0.87%, with notably low volatility.

Year to date, the Portfolio has returned +4.32%. It remains positioned outside traditional equity markets, consistent with its mandate as a complementary, alternative allocation focused on capital preservation and controlled risk.

August 2026: Portfolio Positioning

In response to continued geopolitical tensions, we further enhanced diversification by adding new strategies alongside the existing high-yield fixed-income allocation. Overall exposure has been maintained at approximately 90%. The Portfolio now comprises 15 distinct strategies across five asset classes. Our risk team continues to monitor conditions closely and will adjust positioning as warranted.

Long-Term Performance

GDS Vs Indices

Since inception on 1 January 2020, the GDS Strategy has delivered +87.42%. A hypothetical equal-weighted allocation across four major indices would have returned approximately +66.33% over the same period, equating to an outperformance of 21.08 percentage points with significantly lower volatility.

August 2026 Contribution and Performance

The +0.87% August return reflects disciplined portfolio construction and measured risk exposure. At the start of the month, one strategy was removed and capital was reallocated to an existing strong performer as part of ongoing optimisation. We continue to evaluate high-quality strategies across additional sectors and asset classes; any new addition must meet rigorous risk-management criteria.

Outlook

We remain committed to an all-weather approach centred on disciplined risk management, adaptive positioning, and long-term capital growth. Our focus continues to be identifying attractive opportunities while protecting capital across diverse market conditions.

Transparency

The GDS Portfolio is now listed on the Barclay Hedge platform, with Eureka Hedge coverage expected shortly, providing investors with additional transparency and independent performance tracking.

Best Wishes,
The JPFS Investment Team
